I was born and raised in the beautiful Hudson Valley of New York State, home of Rip Van Winkle, Sleepy Hollow, West Point and the lesser known Franklin Delano Roosevelt. I am the second of eight children. My grandfather was an Irish immigrant that came through Ellis Island in 1903. My father was the Postmaster of the little town I grew up in. I have lived in Washington State, Virginia, Indiana, Kentucky, Kansas, North Carolina and Belgium - some more than once. I moved to Colorado in 1998 and came to Challenger in 1999 after a year at Ellicott Jr/Sr High School. I have two children, Christian Patrick, born in 1979,married with two children and lives and works in Washington DC; and Laura Kathleen, born in 1982, married and the mother of my two other grandchildren and lives near Ramstein AFB, Germany. As a former military spouse, I moved a great deal and attended several colleges around my children's schedules - finally getting a BS in Mathematics Education at Fayetteville State University, Fayetteville NC. I received a Masters in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of Phoenix in January 2005.
I love teaching and I love my students. I believe all students can feel success at Math and my main goal is for them to feel success in Math in the future as well. When I am not cheering on my students' or former students' athletic events, I enjoy hiking, traveling, cooking and spending time with my friends and family.
