A bit about me ... just in case you are interested ...
I was born in Rome, New York, spent my young childhood in Maryland near the Chesapeake Bay sailing, moved to Colorado in 6th grade, then graduated from Colorado State University with a BS in Outdoor Recreation and Forestry in 1984 and an MS in Marketing in 1988. While working for several years doing marketing, software development and testing, and training for a small telecommunications engineering firm, I decided that the part of my career that I enjoyed was the teaching, and the rest was stress. After having the opportunity to stay home with my young children for a few years, I completed the teacher education program at UCCS. This is my 10th year teaching science at Challenger Middle School. I completed my MS in Curriculum and Instruction in December, 2004.
I believe that all children are capable students and have ideas, interests, and talents to share with all of us. I provide opportunities, encouragement, and a safe environment in which to take risks, learn and grow in order to prepare students to be productive, happy, and responsible members of our society.
I enjoy helping students participate and learn in extracurricular activities. I coach the Challenger Forensics team along with Ms. Fricke, and sponsor the Challenger chapter of the National Junior Honor Society with Mr. Grumann. I help out with wrestling and track by keeping score.
In my spare time I volunteer with my son’s theater groups. I’m an avid skier, an animal lover, and I love photography, exploring and traveling. I had the opportunity to spend a semester in college at the University of Edinburgh in Scotland, and have traveled to travel to Africa, Europe, Canada, Mexico, and to most of the United States. I continue to enjoy taking classes and learning new things to enrich my life and to share with my students.
