Hello! I am Kathryn (Katy) Mariotti. Here at Challenger, I teach 6th & 7th Grade Vocal Music, Blue Notes (an 8th Grade semester-long choir), Silver Tones (an 8th Grade auditioned year-long choir), and Musical Theatre. I also have an after school boys' a cappella group called Sharp, and I run (with the rest of the performing arts department) the CMS Variety Show.
I grew up in Colorado Springs, and attended District 20 schools: Pioneer Elementary, Challenger Middle, and Rampart High School. I attended the University of Northern Colorado and received a Bachelors of Music Education. I am currently working towards a Master's Degree in Creative Writing/Literature from Regis University.
As a child, I was a member of the Colorado Springs Children's Chorale, with whom I toured to Washington D.C., New York City, and Japan, to name a few. I was also involved in school choirs, plays and musicals, and church choir.
Currently, I am a member of my church choir, I take and give private voice lessons, and I perform as much as possible, (I was involved in the Vocal Arts Symposium at Colorado College, was a soprano section leader for the CC Choir, and was a member of the chorus for Opera Theatre of the Rockies in 2009.)
Outside of music, I love spending time with my husband Dan, my (large) extended family, my friends, and my dog Bella. I love to go to movies, read, draw, write, and travel (so far I've been to Japan, Mexico, Switzerland, France, Germany, Italy, Austria, and England!!!)
