I graduated from Gothenburg High School in 1989 and went to Doane College with scholarships in band and volleyball. After four years at Doane I transferred to the University of Nebraska at Kearney for a year and graduated with a BA in Elementary Education and a minor in Social Science.
My first job was at High Plains Youth Center in Brush, Colorado. This was a maximum security facility for juveniles. I worked with all adjudicated boys ages 12-21. After eighteen months, I then started at Brush Middle School as a special education teacher for two years and then taught 6th grade social studies for one year all the while coaching volleyball at the high school. After five total years in Brush, I moved to Elizabeth, Colorado. I taught two years of special education at the middle school while coaching high school volleyball. In 2001, I came to Challenger and have taught language arts and social studies. I have coached volleyball and basketball since I started at Challenger in 2001. You will also see me working the clock at football games, boys and girls basketball games and timing at track meets. I love Colorado Springs and truly enjoy the kids I have been able to work with here at Challenger.
